The largest Jewish cemetery in Central Asia is in Samarkand. Its area is approximately 12 hectares, there are about 10 thousand graves. The oldest gravestone found in the cemetery dates back to 1826. Obviously, there are older burials, but the gravestones on them have not been preserved, and on many of the older stones the inscriptions in Hebrew letters have been erased.
